Drawing is seeing.

A drawing is different than a photograph. More than a reflection of reality, it is an interpretation of things seen or imagined.

Drawing is focus.

Our world moves so fast that it is difficult to be really aware of the people and things around you. When you draw a picture of someone it gives you a chance to really look at their face, their skin, muscle bone and body, how they occupy time and space. Creating an image can freeze a moment in time and solidify it on paper.

Drawing is storytelling.

A sketch can be a reflection of my life experience or a way of sharing my dreamworld. It can create moods and communicate emotion in a way that is different than using words. An illustration can create a window to a different realm of possibilities.
